We are undergoing a long-needed enlargement to the putting green. In the past the putting green grass has nearly died due to heavy traffic and the green has been near closing. With this enlargement we have doubled the size of the putting green which will promote proper turf health and growth. This project was approved last Monday evening and work started Tuesday morning. The new putting green and men's 10th tee will open approximately 1 month after the sod has been put down. The sod is expected to be put down next week some time, weather permitting.
The back 9 is near completion and is now open for the season. We are mandating some practices so the golf course construction is not damaged. You must not hit off any newly sodded areas on the golf course. This is easily noticed around our greens because it includes all bunker areas on the golf course. Th ...
Due to the heavy rain and recent snow the golf course construction project was delayed by two days this week. We are doing a major sod installation on Friday and as such, we will be opening until Wednesday April 9th.
As new information is made available we will update membership by email and on the website.
We say a fond farewell to the 2013 golf and tennis season. The golf course is now closed till opening day in 2014.
The golf pro shop and course will be closed due to the anticipated snow storm due to hit the area on Saturday, December 14th.
We are nearing the end of the golf course maintenance facility project. The first phase of the golf maintenance facility project, the 3,200 SF cold storage building, was completed last year. The cold storage build was designed and built to store golf course maintenance equipment and supplies. We demolished the old maintenance building last winter to make way for the second and final building, a 5,700 SF maintenance building. The cold storage building is serving as a transition maintenance facility for the crew, vehicles and equipment. The shell of the new maintenance building was completed this summer. The interior build out of the maintenance building is well underway. The building should be substantially complete before the end of the year.
Work is scheduled to commence on or about November 4th. Phase I is as follows:

In order to preserve the long term value and level of quality of the golf course at the Port Jefferson Country Club, last spring, the Country Club Management Advisory Committee (CCMAC) unanimously recommended to the Port Jefferson Village Board of Trustees that the golf course irrigation system be replaced and certain golf course renovations be made, with a focus on rebuilding the greenside bunkers. Irrigation systems and bunkers have a normal useful life expectancy. PJCC’s current irrigation system and bunkers are both well past these periods. The twenty plus year old irrigation system is rapidly deteriorating and its present condition makes the golf course vulnerable to extensive and costly long term damage. In addition, the golf maintenance crew is constantly making emergency repairs to the fragile PVC piping, connector joints and out of production computer circuit boards that control the system. This create substantial additional labor costs and takes our most valuable staff away from more productive golf course maintenance work The bunkers have needed reconstruction for quite some time and it makes sense to complete that work while the irrigation system is being replaced.
